From rock pools and chips to a cottage my mum snapped up on a whim, Cornwall’s always been our family’s heartbeat. .
Cornwall’s in my blood—woven into childhood summers of fishing nets, rock pools, and sunburnt knees. Buckets of crabs gave way to bellyboards, then surfboards, always with hot chocolate (later beer) and the staples: ice cream and chips. My mother was the spark. She never lived here, but her heart did. One holiday, she popped out for cheese and ham, came back beaming—she’d bought a house. No joke. Saw it in an estate agent’s window, viewed it, offered, and it was hers. That 18th-century fisherman’s cottage in Padstow stole her soul, and through it, she fell for Cornwall all over again.
When my parents passed, the cottage sat quiet. We tried to sell—two offers, long waits, both fell through. It felt like a kick from above: Mum whispering, “Not yet.” Cornwall was shifting—tough times, fewer buyers, a fading buzz. But that nudge gave birth to CornwallThrive. With this cottage, a lot of love, and a solid community, we believe Cornwall can thrive again.
It’s steps from Padstow’s harbor—Rick Stein’s, yes, but also fudge to die for, cozy bars, and that Cornish welcome. No car needed, just comfortable boots and a craving for ice cream. We’re relaunching it as a rental (check it out here (#)), inviting you to build your own memories. And beyond that? We’re here for Cornwall—businesses, visitors, locals. Tell us: how can we help it thrive for you?
Everything just a short walk away. Whether popping out for coffee or a hike around the countryside, everyting is on your doorstep
Our cottage continues my mothers desire to create a space to be yourself and relex. It is comfortable, cosy and welcoming.
